John Adams on Military, War, and Service
With the approach of veterans day, this quote just seemed right:
“I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce, and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain. “

i want the history of John Adams
Would you comment on whether John Adams was aware of the events described in that book just out from Yale Press, “Defying Empire: Trading with the Enemy in Colonial New York.” It’s pretty cool, but it changed how I look at the Founding Fathers.
